Residential scaffolding in Newport and South Wales

New roof, chimney repair, rendering or an extension. The scaffold is what lets your trades get on with it, so it needs to suit the job they’re doing. Tell Paul what’s happening and get a free quote.

Scaffolding up the front of a brick block of flats

Tell us what the work is

A roofer needs different access to a painter. Tell us what’s being done, who’s doing it and roughly when they want to start, and the scaffold can be priced for that job.

If you’ve got your builder’s or roofer’s number, pass it on. It helps to talk to the people who’ll be working off it.

If the house fronts the pavement

Plenty of houses round here open straight onto the pavement. Section 169 of the Highways Act 1980 says scaffolding put up on or over a highway needs a written licence from the highway authority, which is usually the council.

So if the scaffold has to stand on or over the pavement, it needs that licence before it goes up. Ask us about it when we quote.

Next door, and anything awkward

If the scaffold needs to go on a neighbour’s drive or garden, have a word with them before the day.

Tell us about anything tight when you ring: a shared path, steps, a conservatory, a car that can’t be moved. It all goes into planning where the scaffold sits.

When the work’s done

Tell us when your trades have finished. Elliott Craig put it like this in his Google review: “the day we finished with the scaffold and I told them, they stripped it the next day.”

Questions, answered.

Anything else, call and ask Paul.

How much is scaffolding for a house?

It depends on the size of the house, how many sides need scaffolding, how high it goes and how long it stays up. Call or send the details and you’ll get a free quote.

Who sorts the licence if it goes on the pavement?

Ask us when we quote. Some councils spell it out: Caerphilly, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan councils all say on their own websites that it’s the scaffolding company’s job to apply.

Can the scaffold stay up while I wait for the roofer?

Tell us the dates your roofer or builder has given you, and how long you think you’ll need it. That all goes into the quote.
