Four things to ask any scaffolder.
Whoever you use, get these answered before the first pole goes in.
Does it need a licence?
If the scaffold stands on or over the pavement or road, the council has to licence it before it goes up. Ask who’s applying and when.
What’s in the price?
Putting it up, how long it can stay, and taking it down. Check the quote covers all three so you compare like with like.
When does it come down?
Agree how you’ll tell the scaffolder the work’s finished, and how soon after that it gets taken down.
Who do I call while it’s up?
A loose board, or a sheet flapping in the wind. Get a name and a number before the first pole goes in.

How much does scaffolding cost?
It depends on the size of the job, how long the scaffold stays up and how easy the access is. Call or send the details and you’ll get a free quote.
Do I need a licence for scaffolding on the pavement?
If it stands on or over the pavement or the road, yes. Section 169 of the Highways Act 1980 says scaffolding on or over a highway needs a written licence from the highway authority, which is usually the council. Newport City Council says not to start putting it up until the licence has been issued. Ask us about it when we quote.
