Scaffolding up the front of a brick block of flats

Around the town

From the shops on Windsor Road and the streets round Alexandra Park, down to the Esplanade and the pier, out to the marina and Cogan, and on to Llandough, Sully and Lavernock.

Plenty of Penarth’s houses are tall Victorian ones with bays, big chimneys and detail on the front. Tell us how many storeys, what the work is and what’s out the front when you ring.

The Vale of Glamorgan’s licence

Penarth is in the Vale of Glamorgan. The council says scaffolding on the adopted highway needs its licence, and that a home or business owner can’t apply for one. It’s the scaffolding contractor’s job to make sure the licence has been applied for and granted before the scaffold goes up.

Licences are granted for one month only. If the scaffold needs to stay longer, a new licence is applied for the same way, so tell us early if the work looks like running on.

The licence, council by council

Penarth is covered by Vale of Glamorgan Council. Our pavement licence guide sets out what it says next to the other councils we work in, with a link to each council’s own page where we could find one.
